Getting Here from Entebbe Airport (EBB)
Entebbe International Airport sits on the Lake Victoria shore about 40 km southwest of Kampala. Most guests take a pre-booked private transfer or hotel-arranged pickup.
Best route
Ask your driver to use the Kampala–Entebbe Expressway (toll dual carriageway opened 2018). It is usually faster and more predictable than the older Entebbe Road through Kajjansi.
- Typical time: 45–75 minutes in normal traffic; up to 90+ minutes at peak
- Rush hours: roughly 7–9 am and 5–8 pm
- Toll: often UGX 5,000–10,000 per car (usually included by transfer drivers)
To each property
SKA Naguru — northeastern Kampala (Nakawa Division), about 4.5 km from the city centre on Naguru Hill (~1,300 m). Nearby: Ntinda, Nakawa, Kololo, Bukoto.
SKA Munyonyo — southern lakeside Kampala / Wavamunno area, roughly 12 km from the centre and about 40–45 km from the airport depending on traffic.
We can arrange airport transfers if requested at least 24 hours before arrival.
Local transport tips
- Private transfer / hotel shuttle — recommended with luggage or late-night arrivals
- Licensed taxi / ride-hailing — confirm expressway use and a fixed or metered price before departure
- Boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) — fine for short hops without luggage; use helmets and reputable riders
- Matatu minibuses — inexpensive for locals; less ideal with suitcases or after dark
Weather, Seasons & Roads
Kampala has a warm tropical climate year-round. Temperatures commonly sit around the mid-20s to low-30s °C (upper 70s–80s °F).
Drier periods
Roughly June–August and December–February — popular for travel, firmer roads for day trips, and higher demand. Book early for weekends.
Wetter periods
Roughly March–May and September–November — short heavy showers are common. Allow extra travel time; roads can slow after rain. Pack a light rain jacket.
Roads: Main highways (including the expressway) are generally good. Inner-city traffic is dense. Always allow buffer time for airport connections. For evening drives, prefer known routes and pre-arranged transport.
